Mr. Frank Alan Barnhart

Associate Professor
Frank Barnhart is an Associate Professor in the Humanities Department at Columbus State Community College and the Lead Instructor of Theatre. He received the Distinguished Teaching Award in 2010 and was a finalist in 2017 and 2018. He was named Best Director of the Year by the Central Ohio Theatre Roundtable for the Theatre Columbus State production of Titanic: A Retrospective. He was also nominated as Best Director for the Theatre Columbus State productions of A Friday in November, Spring Awakening, The Diviners, The Cradle Will Rock, and Stupid F**king Bird. Frank is also an award winning off-off Broadway director and producer, having received an Off-Off Broadway Review Award in 2002 for his production of Members of the Tribe. Frank has been a member of the Central Ohio theatre community for over 30 years. During that time, he has served as the Producing Director of Reality Theatre, and the Executive Director of both Act Out Productions and Actors Theatre of Columbus. He holds an MFA in Theatre from The Ohio State University and an MA in Journalism and Mass Communication from Kent State University. He is also a member of Actors Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild, The Society of American Fight Directors, and The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
